How Long Does a Spray Tan Last in Your Golden Years?
Spray tans
allow you to have those summer vibes all year. They provide you a golden
radiance without putting you in danger of getting the nasty sunburn. The main
drawback is that spray tan is notorious for fading quickly.
Before you spray tan, there are a few things you should do.
Give your
loofah, some tender care. 3 days before to your appointment, exfoliate every day. Scrubs, dry
brushes, and even a damp towel will suffice. It removes dead skin cells and
creates a more equal basis for your body.
Arrive
with a spotless foundation. Remove any makeup before using the spray. If you don't want to go all
day without makeup, bring oil-free wipes to your appointment. Also, before you
go, get rid of your deodorant. Pasty pits might result as a result of this.
Chemicals
and oil-based items should be avoided. Retinol and glycolic acid, which are commonly used in skin
care, might interfere with the spray tans. Use these the day just before your
appointment. Oil-based cosmetics and creams should also be avoided. They
provide a barrier between your skin and the pigment, preventing it from
entering.
There
will be no waxing prior. Waxing 24 hours before a spray tan is not recommended. Waxing causes
pores to expand and enlarge, resulting in an uneven hue.
Maintain
a relaxed attitude.
Spray tanning has a number of advantages, one of which is the absence of tan
lines. However, if you arrive at your appointment wearing tight clothing, it
might all be for naught. Wear something that is loose and airy.
After you've had a spray tan, what should you do?
It's time to
master the art of aftercare now that you've perfected your skin prep.
There
aren't any panty lines. VPLs (visible panty lines) may be a real pain. Request a pair of paper
panties from your tanning facility to wear after your treatment. Alternatively,
go commando.
Make
yourself a powder.
Sweating can leave a lot of spray tan streaks. To absorb excess moisture give
your body a little coating of baby powder. Bonus: Unlike deodorant, baby powder
does not include chemicals that might interfere with the effectiveness of your
tan.
For the
next 24 hours, dress in loose clothing. For the first day following your tan, wear loose clothing.
This includes your undergarments and pajamas. Tight clothing can cause apparent
lines or streaks due to friction.
After 6
hours, don't shower. Allow
at least 6 hours before scrubbing. This allows your skin to absorb the color
properly. The tanning solution should not be left on for more than 12 hours. It
might result in streaks or areas that are uneven.
Make a
few changes to your shower regimen. Water can hasten the fading of your color. If at all
possible, limit yourself to short showers. Use lukewarm water and avoid using
strong soaps or scrubs. Keep your distance from the steam room. Your tan will
fade faster if you're in a hot or humid area.
Make sure
all of your body items are in good working order. In the first day or two following
the spray, stay away from oil-based products. This enhances the color's
absorption by a factor of ten. Also, avoid using skin care products that
include alcohol (e.g., certain perfumes or fragrant lotions). Alcohol might dry
up your skin and cause the tan to flake off more quickly.
Don't
shave off the radiance. Exfoliate as little as possible until your tan fades. If you must shave,
use slow, even strokes and softly press down.
Use the
highlighter to your advantage. Your color may be taken to new fantastic heights using a
highlighter. To make your tan pop, apply some to your cheekbones or
collarbones.
It's time
to put the finishing touches on it at home. DIY tanning lotions or sprays are unlikely to produce
the similar glow as a professional tanning treatment. It can, however, make
your spray tan to last longer.
